Pandanan Marine Technopark has been started in 2020 by collaboration of several bodies including local communties, divers, governments, universities, and private sectors. The objectives are to restore the coral reef ecosystem which has been destroyed, to provide a new income livelihood income, and to increase people awareness of coral reef conservation. These objectives was formulated into a simple conceptual framework but comprehensive, which is 3E, Ecology, Economy, and Education. A simple conceptual framework is very important because the program is focusing on local community empowerment. They do not want complicated thinking. Furthermore, they only think about direct and short term economic benefit.
Recently, Pandanan Marine Technopark formulated a lawfirm as Non Government Organization - NGO, named Yayasan Laut Lestari dan Sejahtera (Sustainable and Prosperous Seas). There are two main goals which are conserving coastal and marine resources and at the same time providing welfare/prosperity to the community.
